| Mon Dec 11, 2006 5:56 pm Aurelio: Ethereal View |
|
|
It was the sound of voices. They had no face or form, just a sound. The area around him was gray...
This was what he could remember about the dream at the time. Weeks had gone by since anything significant had happened. Mounds of people, seemingly unaware of him or the world he was living in, milled around him. People spoke, but he couldn't hear.
He wondered what he was going to do next. It seemed like a meeting with Norman and Noah would have been in order, but Norman was away on some trip, and Noah hadn't been heard from in a while.
Latin class was coming up next. Why did he even decide to take that class? |

Another mind-numbingly boring day of school had passed. Not speaking to anyone, he walked out of the school building. His eyes were open, but he couldn't see anything for being lost in his thoughts.
Thoughts flitted past him at a million miles an hour and suddenly the thoughts were broken by a small, localized earthquake...
His cell phone was vibrating. It was Noah with a message.
"Okay, Noah... okay..."
But what was he going to say or do around him? Sometimes, he didn't know how to react to anyone it seemed. Not knowing what to make of the message, Aurelio turned around, feeling troubled to have to talk to someone while knowing he had nothing to say. Finally being frustrated with the thought, Aurelio turned back around and started to write a text message:
"Noah. Going home. Talk to me there. l8r."
"Why can't he just talk to me like normal people. Always with the text messages... sheesh." |

"I have second sight..."
After that, there was a pause in his mind, and then, "What stuff are you on?"
There was a stirring within him when he heard these words; perhaps a portent of something to come. For now, the words were heard with what would hardly be called half-hearted interest.
"Nothing, man. Just stuff on my mind or whatever. Nothing to have a cow over." |

Then suddenly, a thought.
"I don't know when tomorrow. Maybe after school. You wanna spend the night?" |

Noah soon departed after saying tomorrow would be good for spending the night. Checking with with Aurelio's mom, there was no protest; the next day was Friday.
Saying goodbye, Aurelio was soon in his room and sleeping. As he drifted deeper into slumber, he found himself in the middle of a series of dreams.
In one dream, a man was facing a dark and shadowy figure. At this point of the battle, the man was weakened, but had a determined look on his face. The dark and shadowy figure had an expression (if it could be called that) of near victory. The man spoke loudly saying, "The Blood of the Son stands against, Kyrios be my protection and my aid!"
At that moment, there was a flash, and the dream ended.
The next dream involved a man and a dragon. The dragon and the man were speaking to each other. The man looked very worn out. The dragon spoke saying:
"Behold my power. All of the spoils of this kingdom shall ever be yours should you simply join me. What good would it do you otherwise? The people of this kingdom care not for you. Look at their wretched lives. You could be as I am! You could have might, power, fame, and wealth enough for 100 kings! What say you?"
The other man refused,
"You know nothing of power, dragon. Though you stand mighty before me now, these things you offer me are trifles. I do not wish to be as you are. I already know who I am and from whence I have come..."
The man said more things, but Aurelio had already faded into yet another dream.
The next dream involved two people. One who emanated an aura that made Aurelio semi-nervous and another man with kind eyes and gentle features. One man talked to Aurelio. The other remained silent, speaking only with his eyes and his peaceful way.
The other man continued to assault Aurelio with offers of one thing and the other and above all, power. The other man simply looked at Aurelio. So focused was his gaze that Aurelio could only hold it for a moment.
This struggle continued for some time. One set of peaceful, but beckoning eyes and one voice rapid firing verbs, trying to break the gaze.
Every word, every glance called for something... something....something....
What did they want and who were they?
And suddenly it clicked. He knew who they were. He knew HOW they were. He knew, he knew. It was him. How could he have even missed it for a moment.
And he knew what the "something" was: a decision. It was time for him to be identified. That was the feeling he had and he couldn't escape it. Not even in his sleep could he get away from it.
Suddenly, he was out of the dream [was he ever really in one], almost as if ejected from it.
One phrase was shouted into the night shattering an invisible world:
"I choose you!!!"
Then, there was silence. He was identified.
The shadows present in the room arrayed themselves. |

Everything in Aurelio was going crazy. The previous night's dream, his mind recollecting details and who it was that he "chose". Things were making less sense by the moment and there was no escape.
At the same time, there was a small consolation in him thinking that he didn't make all of this up. He couldn't be crazy because no one else could tell him he was...
He saw Noah in the hall. Wondering what they would talk about tonight at his house, he went his way to class. He supposed that if Noah needed him, he would vibrate. |

| Mon Dec 11, 2006 6:17 pm a new language... |
|
|
Noah had just walked into the house and it was Friday night. Noah had permission to stay for the weekend, so there was no way that questions could go unanswered.
Noah and Aurelio talked long into the night about the last few days. Aurelio related his dream to Noah after a gnawing inward stuggle and digging up a little courage. There was no rejection or misunderstanding to be found in the eyes of Noah; in fact, there was a knowing smile. Relief came over Aurelio in waves.
Finally, the two of them, having had a long day and thinking tomorrow a better time for talking about things went to sleep.
This night, there was no dream. Just a brooding silence and a darkness that seemed to blanket everything. This night, there was a new moon, so there was no moonlight.
Into the room came the shadows who had been careful watching since the night before. The were there again, watching.
Suddenly, an overpowering light appeared in the room and Aurelio found himself awake...he thought...
There was no way to tell. He was aware of being conscious, but at the same time, he was out of his senses. He was standing, and yet felt like he was lying flat and floating. He was scared to death and wanted to run away, but curiousity compelled him otherwise.
There was a mass of darkness led by the man who spoke so much the night before and in the midst, and close to Aurelio, the man with the kind eyes and gentle features.
They were talking again, each of them pointing or looking at Aurelio. Aurelio wanted to speak, but found himself without words. No sound would come out. He couldn't have been in a vacuum; he could breathe (was he breathing? It didn't feel like he was out of air) but no sound would come from him. That's when it struck him.
No one else had this problem but him. He just knew it. The talking man and the gentle man stood against each other. Tension was high, but even with the army of darkness surrounding all it took was one glance to realize who the stronger was.
What would happen now?
------------------------------
After a small standoff, the man with the armies gave Aurelio a menacing look; there would be no fight today.
Aurelio was scared, but not as much as surprised that he would have ever chosen this man over whom he chose the other night. Before his eyes, the man turned, for a split second, into the dragon from the night before.
So the dreams were connected!
The scene faded away and now there was only warm, white light and a voice, quiet but distinct. Aurelio floundered for words by which to address whatever this was when suddenly the voice spoke out:
"Yol roltc rir mod rolts híl. Híl yû nucd ûc du rolts ov du Cbilid."
Amazingly, the meaning was exactly communicated although Aurelio felt like he couldn't understand a word. If the light could be said to have appendages, it certainly did that night. It was interesting to Aurelio to see something so concrete and yet intangible.
"Píhort, Í dush yol ribc. Yû nai cbís."
Somehow, Aurelio felt that he should try speaking at this moment. He opened his mouth.
And closed it again. This was too silly. How was he supposed to just speak some weird language he had never heard before to someone he had not (and still had not) seen? This was craziness to an extreme.
He tried again. He was scared, but he tried:
"Í tû mod mo...."
"Wow. I can do it, too."
Just that thought alone encouraged him and each word found its way out of his mouth more fluidly than the last. He had a question to ask.
"Hû al yû?"
The Light was quick to answer:
"I am he whom you chose one night ago. My dear Aurelio, I have waited on you for a long time and where I have only been able to communicate in dreams before, I am present with you now. You are not asleep, nor are you awake as you know it. In this place, we speak spirit to spirit and heart to heart."
"I don't understand."
"Sometimes you will, sometimes you will not. This will not be a matter of your mind, but a matter of the heart and the spirit. That is how you chose me the other night. That is how you are able to see what you see in your dreams. That is how, with my help, you were able to see who that man really was."
"Who were those people? What were the dreams about? What do I have to do with this? Why...?"
"Dear one, I will tell you what you need to know right now. There is a powerful evil in this world. It is ages old and it wanted to lay claim to you, but since you have chosen me, it will array itself against you at every turn. These forces are too powerful for you to overcome and you have not the strength to wage war against them, nor the wisdom to see their deceptions and counteract them, nor the power to stand against them in the stead of others. You are only at the beginning of learning how to see and hear."
Aurelio was sobered. That whole army was coming after him? What was he to do? The Light was right. He couldn't conquer this on his own.
Almost as if reading his thoughts, the Light spoke out again:
"Be encouraged, dear one, I will protect you and teach you. You must be careful to heed my instructions or else you will surely be turned away from me."
"How will I learn how to hear light? This is crazy. What I mess this whole thing up? I'm not some weird superhero type; I'm a kid. That's all. A kid," he thought.
"I will show you the way," the light said.
"I don't even know who you are."
"Would you like to?"
"Yes. I really would. It would make me feel a lot better."
And thus they communed for several hours it seemed.
When the moment had ended and the light had dissipated from the area, there was only one thought on his mind:
"I hope no one else heard that..."
Noah kept this thoughts to himself, but he would certain ask Aurelio äbout some things. |

The first words out of Aurelio's mouth after Noah's questions were:
"What did you see?"
He had to know. He had to be able to trust, but it wasn't something that Aurelio could give to him with just words. Suddenly, there was a prompting in his heart. Just an idea with no rationale. He would try it.
"Noah, give me your hands."
"Dude, I don't roll like that."
"Come on man, I'm being serious. I don't know what will happen, but I just.... I just have an idea all right? Just give me your hands."
Aurelio stretched forth his hands, expectant. Noah did the same. |

As there hands touched, a warm sensation came over Aurelio. He knew that the same Light he had run into before was present here, but this was different. The Light had told him the night before that he would know it in his heart before his head would ever catch.
There was a moment that Aurelio thought, "I hope he can handle all this. What if this doesn't work?"
In moments, he was taken through different scenes. People talking, streams, trees, lots of blurry colors. The meaning of all these things were strangely clear; it was a walk through some type of history. Why he was seeing this, he didn't know. The light spoke all the way through the trip.
"Du belcum rid hûn yû al rir mod umdelcamt ad dic dín. Ar dimc rir pí lífíret im dín..."
The blank look that met his eyes a few moments later confirmed those suspicions.
The only things he could say were what he already heard.
"I know you don't get it, but you will. You have to." |

It just couldn't be helped. It really couldn't.
How could Aurelio have known what might happen when they touched?
"Noah? Noah. Noah?!...."
Noah remained unconscious. His mouth was moving as if he were trying to communicate, but no words were coming out. It was actually kind of funny. Aurelio said the only words he could think of:
"Dude, you shouldn't do that..."
Peals of laughter echoed from every wall in the kitchen. They put their dishes away and headed back to Aurelio's room.
They were both amazed at what 7:30 - 8:15 am could contain and they were both hungry for more. |

Aurelio and Noah made their way upstairs to the room where Aurelio soon found himself in a headlock. He jostled around a little, but not too much (too many nearby breakables). Letting Noah take him upstairs, he took the time to think about the last couple of weeks.
Things had happened that knit two people together heart to heart, mind to mind, spirit to spirit. An unbreakable bond had been formed and, somehow, Aurelio knew that Noah felt the same. He thought about this for a while. He thought about other things, too; Noah didn't know his strength and it showed. Aurelio would be glad when Noah released him.
Almost as if in response to that thought, Noah's grip loosened just a little, then more, until Aurelio could get free... and saw him with eyes full of tears. What had happened? He remembered a few words and looking at Noah's face thought "Oh please don't cry...." He didn't want Noah to be a stoic...
He just didn't want to cry....
but he did anyway...
just a little.
Then he heard "round 2". Round 2?
"Man, you are just a glutton for punishment aren't you?"
Aurelio always had to crack a joke.
Suddenly his heart started to beat a little faster.
There could really be one. |

They stood in the room together, nervous.
They had both felt a power that refused to fit any other term but "otherwordly".
At the first, Aurelio had an uneasy feeling, but now he felt more at ease. He couldn't put his finger on it. Then, somehow, he knew. He just knew that Noah would be "ready" this time. For what, he didn't know.
And they touched again.
More moving images and color. More streams, lakes, and eternal sky. Then a voice:
"Pívol, hí surt mod híl písas hí rac mod letí, pud mä hic ílc al obem; dûtai ní foíc hí rir híl."
And the warmth, oh the warmth.
The moment came to an end. It seemed as if they had travel millions of miles, but they hadn't moved even an inch from where they stood before.
Then a streak of black panic; what if Noah still didn't get this. There were only so many times a guy could be expected to do all of this without thinking, "That guy is a loon..."
Silently he waited, then Noah said, "I heard something, but what does it mean?"
Aurelio could hardly hide the relief flowing through him as he answered, "So what did you hear?" |

Noah departed from his home, saying his farewells to both Aurelio and his mom. Aurelio smiled as Noah said, "So... what are the chances of this happening again?"
He hoped for something like soon.
The remainder of the day passed by like a dream; the weather was absolutely gorgeous and all seemed to be right with the world at the time. As the day rolled lazily along, he wondered how things would go.
He prepared for bed feeling saturated with the events of the weekend and wondered what the next few days would bring. Although he felt a lot of happiness, he had an uneasy feeling about the next few days. |
